Common insulation questions
Straight answers from our certified specialists.
How much does attic insulation cost in Florida?
Most Central Florida homes (1,500–2,500 sqft) run $1,800–$3,200 for a full R-38 blown-in upgrade. Your exact price depends on square footage, existing depth, number of can lights, and whether air sealing is included. Enter your address above for an instant estimate.
How much will I save on my energy bill?
DOE studies show R-38 upgrades save Florida homeowners 25–40% on cooling costs annually. On a typical $180/month summer bill that’s $540–$864 per year — most homes pay back the full install in 3–5 years.
What is R-38 and why does Florida require it?
R-value measures thermal resistance — the higher the number, the better insulation slows heat transfer. Florida’s DOE climate zone mandates R-38 for attics because of extreme summer heat. Most homes built before 2005 sit at R-11 or less.
How long does the installation take?
Most homes are done in 3–5 hours the same day. Our crew handles all setup, blows fiberglass to R-38 depth, fully cleans up, and leaves you a printed R-value certificate before packing out.
Blown-in vs. batt insulation — what do you use?
We exclusively use blown-in fiberglass for attics. It fills every gap evenly, is non-combustible, moisture-resistant, and doesn’t compress below spec over time. Batts are not recommended for Florida attic retrofits.
What happens to my recessed can lights?
Before blowing insulation we install IC-rated airtight covers over every recessed fixture. This creates a proper thermal and air barrier. Can light coverage is included in your quote when you indicate them during the estimate.
My home was built in the 1980s or 90s — is it worth upgrading?
These homes benefit most. Homes from that era typically have R-11 or less with significant air leakage at ceiling penetrations. The payback period for a full R-38 upgrade in Central Florida is typically 3–5 years.
Do I also need air sealing?
Air sealing closes gaps at ceiling penetrations, wiring holes, and HVAC boot connections — stopping conditioned air from escaping. It dramatically improves efficiency alongside blown-in insulation. Our auditor assesses it during the free 30-min attic inspection.
How fast can you schedule an install?
We typically have same-week or next-week availability in Volusia and Flagler counties. After your quote, we confirm your preferred date — most customers are scheduled within 5 business days.
What’s your guarantee?
Every install includes a written R-38 certificate and a 5-year workmanship guarantee. If depth drops below R-38 due to an installation defect, we return and top it off at no charge. Materials carry the manufacturer’s 25-year warranty (Johns Manville fiberglass).
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We partner with GreenSky and Enerbank for 12-month same-as-cash and multi-year installment plans. Ask about financing when you book your audit — we’ll send a pre-qualification link by text, no hard pull required.
Do I need a permit for attic insulation in Florida?
In most Florida counties, adding blown-in insulation to an existing attic does not require a permit. If the project includes significant air sealing or HVAC work a permit may apply — we handle all permit documentation when required at no extra charge.
