How do I calculate attic square footage?
For most homes, attic footprint ≈ living area ÷ number of stories, plus a small overhang allowance. A 2,000 sq ft single-story home has roughly a 2,100 sq ft attic; a two-story has about 1,050.
Is attic square footage the same as house square footage?
No. The attic only covers the top floor, so multi-story homes have a much smaller attic footprint than their total living area.
